The two heads of state viewed the flight program of the Airshow, in which among the samples of Russian aircraft were presented a prototype of medium-haul aircraft MС-21-300, the first mass-produced helicopter Mi-38 and Su-57 fifth generation fighters.

In his speech, Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that foreign partners would be interested in the achievements of the Russian aircraft industry and technical capabilities of the Russian Airspace Forces, which would open up new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. "We deeply appreciate the international attention to the Russian Airshow, we see this recognition of the high intellectual, scientific, technical and export potential of our country, its unique traditions of aircraft construction, which allow Russia to remain among the world's leaders in the aerospace industry", - said V. Putin. He also added that "the prospects of aircraft building largely depend on the wide international cooperation, on the close integration of developments of our designers, scientists, efficient use of production facilities".

In his turn, Erdogan said that "cooperation with Russia will give an impetus to new developments in both aviation and space technologies".

Commenting on the bilateral negotiations at MAKS, Vladimir Putin said that he had discussed the possibilities of developing military and technical cooperation with the President of Turkey. "We talked about cooperation on the Su-35 and even possible work on the new Su-57 aircraft," Putin said at a press conference on the results of the talks, - "We have many opportunities, we have demonstrated new weapon systems and new systems of electronic warfare". "In my opinion, our Turkish partners are interested in a lot of things, not only from the point of view of acquisition, but also from the point of view of joint production," he added. Issues of cooperation in the military-technical and civil spheres were also discussed.

MAKS-2019 Exhibition Program

International Aviation and Space Salons deservedly occupy a prominent place among the largest and most prestigious aerospace exhibitions in the world. Confirming this high status, MAKS-2019 gathered 827 exhibitors from 33 countries, including 184 foreign companies. For the first time in the history of MAKS Airshows, the exhibition was held in partnership with the People's Republic of China. A purposefully constructed pavilion with an area of 3,000 sq.m. hosted expositions of China's largest aerospace companies. Nine national pavilions had also been set up.

Leaders of the Russian aviation and space industries, the world's largest manufacturers presented their products on the area of 26.5 thousand square meters of pavilions and 45 thousand square meters of outdoor areas and static displays.

The key event of MAKS-2019 was the world premiere of the MC-21-300 medium-haul passenger aircraft. Two aircraft, including the third flying prototype with a passenger cabin, are shown at the static stop. Another prototype took part in the flight program. A model of the promising Russian-Chinese wide-body CR929 long-haul aircraft is shown for the first time in Russia. The model includes a cockpit, fragments of first, business and economy class salons, and service area. Four fifth-generation Su-57 fighters took part in the demonstration flights. For the first time, the export version of the Su-57E is also shown at the static parking lot. The IL-78M-90A convertible refueling aircraft is also being demonstrated for the first time.

Russian Helicopters Holding Company presented a number of novelties, including Ka-62 medium-size multi-purpose helicopter shown in flight for the first time, as well as the first mass-produced Mi-38 helicopter with a high comfort salon that took part in the exhibition. The Ansat helicopter was demonstrated with the Vit salon, developed in partnership with the NAMI institute - the creator of Aurus limousines.

The static display showcased a promising heavy UAV Orion-2 and an export UAV Orion-E.

Foreign aircraft manufacturers presented a number of aircraft, which had not been previously demonstrated in Russia. Among them were the Embraer E-195E2 short-range aircraft in Tech Lion colouring, the Pilatus PC-24 business jet capable of being based on unpaved airfields and the Piter M500 light aircraft. The wide-body Airbus A350-900 has already participated in MAKS salons, but in 2019 the elements of the Airbus Connected Experience solution were shown.

For the first time, MAKS organized special expositions and sections on general-purpose aviation, which demonstrated about 50 light and ultra-light aircraft, on unmanned aerial systems, with the participation of developers and manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles and operators of unmanned aerial systems. Collective expositions of the Republic of Tatarstan, Samara and Ulyanovsk Regions, and Perm Krai were formed in the "Aviation Regions of Russia" pavilion.

Business program

Both domestic and foreign participants noted an increase in business activity, as well as an increase in the intensity of negotiations and meetings compared to previous MAKS salons. For the first three days of work - the so-called specialist days - the exhibition was visited by 143.5 thousand specialists, which is much higher than in the past years. Members of 120 official delegations who arrived through Rosoboronexport got acquainted with the products of Russian companies.

During the exhibition there were held about 90 conferences, seminars, round tables, strategic sessions, which were attended by more than 2000 specialists. A number of scientific events organized by TsAGI, VIAM and GosNIIAS institutes were held within the framework of MAKS-2019 at external sites. For the third time, the Eurasian Aerospace Congress was held, organized by the Eurasian Aerospace Cluster Partnership and the Government of Samara Region. The event gathered over 700 delegates.

For the first time, the MAKS organized the Future Hub / "University Science and Aeronautical and Technical Creation of Youth" section. More than 40 events took place on its site, with over 2500 participants. In addition to conferences and round tables dedicated to personnel issues, engineering and scientific personnel training, career guidance events, open lectures and master classes were held.

For the third time, a "Student day" was held. On Friday, August 30, about 7 thousand students of full-time departments of higher and secondary special educational institutions took advantage of the opportunity to visit the exhibition free of charge.

Traditionally, MAKS has become a place of signing contracts and agreements for the supply of aviation equipment, documents laying the foundation for further mutually beneficial cooperation. The largest deals were made for MC-21 and Superjet 100 aircraft, Mi-8AMT and Ansat helicopters. Cooperation agreements with major Russian aircraft manufacturers were signed by Novikombank, the general financial partner of the Airshow. The signed agreements are estimated at 248 billion rubles.

Clients of the MatchMaking business meetings appointment service, which this year was held primarily in the interests of small and medium-sized businesses, worked fruitfully. There were 256 meetings, the business potential of which, according to the results of the survey of exhibitors, amounted to more than 8 billion rubles. More than 3000 business meetings in special formats were held at the Airshow.

The total business potential of MAKS-2019 is estimated at 400 billion rubles, not counting the negotiations held within the framework of military-technical cooperation. The latter, according to special exporter Rosoboronexport, are estimated at billions of dollars.

Demonstration program

The rich flight program traditionally distinguishes MAKS among large international exhibitions. In the course of MAKS-2019, the Russian Knights, Falcons of Russia and Swifts aerobatics groups of the Russian Airspace Forces presented their skills. For the first time, the "Air combat with elements of super maneuverability" program, carried out by two Su-30SM fighters of the Russian Navy, was presented. Rus, First Flight, and Kolibri aerobatic teams, as well as guests from the Baltic States - Baltic Bees Jet Team and ANBO - performed rich programs.

A new feature of MAKS-2019 was the holding of aerobatics competitions on single-engine piston planes. The best Russian pilots, selected during the July qualifying round, competed for the MAKS-2019 Cup prize. Dmitry Samokhvalov, the gold medalist of the European Championship 2019, won the competition.

A total of 81 aircrafts took part in the flight program, including 39 aircrafts in eight flight groups. At the MAKS-2019 static exposition, 133 aircrafts were presented. Taking into account the fact that some of the aircraft and helicopters were demonstrated both at the static display and in the flight display, the total number of presented aircraft reached 202.

Thanks to the highly professional work of the members of the Interdepartmental Commission, specialists of the Gromov LII, Aviaprom JSC and Aviasalon JSC, a high level of flight safety was ensured.
